> Africa at last!

This is an account of the first couple of days in Tunisia. There were times when it would have been extremely foolish of me to take a picture, so they are a little sparse (but give me time!) I will add to this gallery next time I can get online.

Tunis, waiting for customs.

The trip south began with Hammamet

...then on to Sousse and the salt flats of Monastir

Kairouan - ancient mosque & satellite dishes.

Surprisingly, Tarek tried to sell me a carpet.

Good job I packed the sunblock.

I like to call this Nigel's Ridge, near Gafsa.

Like a very big child in a giant sand box.

The Chott El Djerid, nr Tozeur.

Salt pan, from horizon to horizon.

This is what sandstorms look like from a distance...

...and a bit closer (different salts, too).

Just before I rode through.

The chott's a good place to think.

Before I realised that stuff had been blasted away!.

After an hour. Should be white & dust-free.
