The first country encountered by most overland travellers is obviously
France. So here is the moderately direct route I took to get to Marseille.
For all but 90km, I rode on Routes Nationales, the equivalent of A-roads
in the UK. This is because autoroutes often have tolls, I wanted to relax
and be able to stop for coffee, and I had a top speed of 140km/h. Click
the route for the pics (click near the UK for snaps of where I live).
